A lamp with a resistance of `8 Omega` is connected to a choke coil as shown in fig. this arrangement is connected to an alternating source of 110V. The current in the circuit is 11A. The frequency of the ac is 60 Hz. Find
(a) the impedence of the circuit and
(b) the value of inductive of the choke coil.

(a) Impedence` (Z)=sqrt(R^(2)+X_(L)^(2))=(E_(rms))/(I_(rms))=(110)/(11)=10 Omega`
(b) `Z^(2)=R^(2)+X_(L)^(2)`
`10^(2)=8^(2)+X_(L)^(2) ir X_(L)=sqrt((100064))=sqrt(36)=6 Omega`.
