Calculate the speed of sound in a gas in which two waves of wavelenghts `50 cm and 50.5 cm` produce `6 beats//s.`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`n_(1)`, frequency of the first wave ` = c//0.500` ,brgt `n_(2)` , frequency of the second wave `= c//0.505`
Obviously `n_(1) gt n_(2) :. n_(1) - n_(2) = 6`
or ` ( c) /(0.500) - ( c)/( 0.505) = 6 or c = 303 m//s`
