`S_(1)` and `S_(2)` are two coherent sources of sound having no intial phase difference. The velocity of sound is `330 m//s`. No maximum will be formed on the line passing through `S_(2)` and prependicular to the line joining `S_(1)` and `S_(2)`. If the frequency of both the sources is

A

` 50 Hz`

B

`60 Hz`

C

`70 Hz`

D

`80 Hz`

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
A

For minimum ,
`Delta x = ( 2 n - 1) (lambda)/(2)`
The maximum possible path difference = difference between the source `= 3 m`.
For no minimum
`(lambda)/(2) gt 3 rArr lambda gt 6`
`f = (V)/(lambda) lt (330)/( 6) = 55`
If `f lt 55 Hz`, for no minimum will occur.
