Why is boric acid considered as a weak acid ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`B (OH)_(3) + H_(2) O hArr [B(OH)_(4)]^(Ө) + H^(oplus)`
Boric acid is not able to release `H^(oplus)` ion on its own. It receives `overset (Ө) O H` ion from water molecule to complete its octet and in turn releases `H^(oplus)` ions.
