On the basis of their electronic configuration, explain why alkali metals are highly reactive?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Alkali metlas have general electronic configuration `ns^(1)`. They can lose `1` electron to acquire stable electronic configuration. They have large atomic size, therefore, they can lose electron easily and they are most reactive.
