The resultant R of vector P andQ is perpendicular to P and R=P both , then angle betwwen `|P|and|Q| `is

A

`(5pi)/4`

B

`(7pi)/4`

C

`(pi)/4`

D

`(3pi)/4`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

Given that R is resultant of P and Q as shown in the figure below,
BC = P, CA = q and BA = R

Given, BA and BC are perpendicular and equal in magnitude.
So, from property of triangle,
`angleACB=45^(@)`
Now, BC has to be extended up to O so, that CD= P
Now, CD and CA have the initial point C, so the angle between CD and CA·
`=180^(@)-45^(@)=135^(@)=(3pi)/4`
So, angle between Pand Q is `3pi/4`
