which of the following four statements are correct?

A

A body can have zero velocity and still be accelerated

B

A body can have a constant velocity and still have a varying speed

C

A body can have a constant speed and still have a varying velocity

D

the direction of the velocity of a body can change when its acceleration is constant

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A, C, D

Choice (a) is correct, as at the highest point of a straight line vertical motion, velocity is zero but acceleration is not zero. Constant velocity means constant speed as well as same direction throughout. So choice (b) is not correct. If a particle moving with constant speed but its direction is changing the velocity of the particle will change, hence choice (c) is correct. the direction of the velocity of a body can change when a constant force is acting on the particle change, hence choice (d) is correct.
