Two bodies are thrown with the same initial velocity at angles ` theta ` and `(90^@ - theta)` respectively with the horizontal, then their maximum height are in the ratio

A

`1:1`

B

`tan theta:1`

C

`1:tan theta`

D

`tan^(2) theta:1`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

`H_(1)=(u^(2)sin^(2) theta)/(2g)`
`H_(2)=(u^(2)sin^(2)(90^(@)- theta))/(2g)=(u^(2)cos^(2) theta)/(2g)`
Dividing (i) by (ii), we get `(H_(1))/(H_(2))=(tan^(2) theta)/1`
