(a) If both the assertion and reason are true and reason is a true explanation of the assertion.
(b) If both the assertion and reason are true but the reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.
(c ) If the assertion is true but reason is false.
(d) If both the assertion and reason are false.
Q. Assertion: A ship floats higher in the water on a high pressure day than on a low pressure day
Reason: Floating of ship in the water is not possible because of buoyancy force which is present due to pressure difference.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

The level of floating of a ship in the water is unaffected by the atmospheric pressure. It depends on buoyancy force which results from the pressure difference in the fluid. If the atmospheric pressure changes, the pressure at all points in the water changes by same amount keeping pressure difference in the water same.
