Why is a slight blow on a cork of bottle fully filled with a liquid suffiecient to break the bottle?

Text Solution

The blow on the cork exerts a pressure on the liquid in it. This pressure is transferred to the entire bottle through the liquid in it. Since the surface area of the bottle is large, the large force so developed breaks the bottle.
