A cubical block of water is dipped completely in water. Each edge of the block is 1 cm is length. Find the bouyant force acting on the block.

Text Solution

Here, volume of the block, `V=1cmxx1cmxx1cm=1cm^3=10^-6m^3`
mass of water displaces, `M=Vxxd=(10^-6m^3)(100(kg)/(m^3))=10^-3kg`
weight of water displaced `W_i=Mg=(10^-3kg)(10(m)/(s))=10^-2N`
Buoyant force acting on the block i.e., `F_B=W_i=10^-2`N
