The lengths of the sides of a rectangle ...

The lengths of the sides of a rectangle are `(5.7 +- 0.2)cm and (3.2 +- 0.1)` cm. Calculate the perimeter of rectangular with error limits.

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
`(17.8 +-0.6)cm`

`Here, I = (5.7 +- 0.2)cm, b =(3.2 +- 0.1)cm`
`p = 2(I+b) =2(5.7 +3.2) = 17.8cm`
`Deltap = +- 2(Delta I + Deltab) =+- 2(0.2 + 0.1) =+- 0.6cm`
Hence, `p = (17.8 +- 0.6) cm`
