Let the initial velocity be (u) and acceleration be (a). Distance travelled in trvelled in `nth` scond by a particle moving in a straight line with a constant acceleration is
` D_n =u = a/2 (2 n-1)`
So, ` 16 = u + a/2 (2 xx 5- 1)` ..(i)
` 28 =u + a/2 (2 xx 5 -1)` ...(ii)
and ` 52 = u + a/2 (2 xx 11 -1)` ...(iii)
On solving (i). (ii) and (iii), we get
` a=4 ms^(-2), u = 10 ms^(-1)`
Now, ` S= ut 1/2 at^2 = 10 x 10 + 1/2 xx 4 xx 10^2`
`= 300 m= 100 a s`
:. ` a=3`.
