Statement I: A body can have acceleration even if its velocity is zero at a given instant .
Statement II: A body is momentarily at rest when it reverses its direction of velocity.

A

(a) both Assertion and Reason are true and the Reason is correct explanation of the Assertion .

B

(b )both Assertion and Reason are true but the Reason is not a correct explanation of the Assertion.

C

(C ) Assertion is true but the Reason is false.

D

(d) both Assertion and Reason are false.

The correct Answer is:
D

When body while going vertically upwards, reaches at the highest point, then it is momentarily at rest and it then reverses its direction . AT the highest jpoint of motion the velocity is zero but its acceleration is equal to acceleration due to graveity.

Statement I: A body can have acceleration even if its velcity is zero at a given instant . Statement II: A body is momentarily at rest when it reverses its direction of velocity.

Assertion : A body can have acceleration even if its velocity is zero at a given instant of time. Reason : A body is momentarily at rest when it reverses its direction of motion.

Can a body have acceleration without having velocity?

STATEMENT - 1 : If the body is moving in the opposite direction of positive motion, then its speed is negative. STATEMENT - 2 : A scalar quantity is one that must be dimensionless. STATEMENT - 3 : A body is momentarily at rest when it reverse its direction of motion.

Statement I: An object can possess acceleration even at a time when it has uniform speed statement II: It is possible when the direction of momtion keeps changing.

Statement-I : A positive acceleration can be associated with a 'slowing down' of the body. Statement-II : The origin and the positive direction of an axis are a matter of choice.

When a body is in equilibrium, its acceleration is

Assertion: If a body is momentarily at rest, it means that force or acceleration are necessarily zero at that instant. Reason: Force on a body at a given time is determined by the direction of motin only.
