A lorry and a car, moving with the same kinetic energy are brought to rest by application of brakes which provied equal retarding forces. Which one of them will come to rest in a shorter distance ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Both the truck and the car will stop at the same distance. This follows from work energy principle
K.E. `=` work done in stopping
`=` froce `xx` distance.
As K.E. of both and retarding force applied on both are equal, therefore, the distances covered must by equal.
