Chemical, gravitational and nuclear ener...

Chemical, gravitational and nuclear energies are nothing but potential energies for different types of forces in nature. Explain this statement clearly with examples.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

A system of particles has potential energy when these particles are held certain distance apart agains some force.
For example, chemical energy is due to chemical bonding between the atoms. Gravitational energy arises when objects are held at some distance against the gravitational attraction. Similarly, nuclear energy arises on account of nuclear forces.
