A moton car is travelling at 30 m//s on ...

A moton car is travelling at `30 m//s` on a circular road of radius `500m`. It is increasing in speed at the rate of `2 ms^(-2)`. What is its acceleration ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here, `upsilon = 30m//s, r = 500m`,
Tangential acceleration, `a_(t) = 2ms^(-2), a = ?`
Radial acceleration,
`a_(r ) = (upsilon^(2))/(r ) = (30 xx 30)/(500) = 1.8ms^(-2)`
As `a = sqrt(a_(r )^(2) + a_(t)^(2))`
`:. a = sqrt(1.8^(2) + 2^(2))`
`= 2.7 ms^(-2)`
