A string is wrapped around the rim of a wheel of moment of inertia 0.20 `kg-m^2` nd radius 20 cm. The wheel is free to rotate about it axis. Initially, thewheel is t rest. The string is now pulled by a force of 20 N. Find the angular velocity of the wheel after 5.0 seconds.

Verified by Experts

Here, `I = 0.20 kg m^(2)`
`R = 20cm = (1)/(5)m`
`omega_(1) = 0, F = 20N`
`omega_(2) = ? T = 5s`

Torque applied on the wheel
`tau = F xx R = 20(1//5) = 4 N-m`
`alpha = (tau)/(I) = (4)/(0.20) = 20 rad//s^(2)`
From `omega_(2) = omega_(1) + alpha t`
`omega_(2) = 0 + 20 xx 5 = 100 rad//s`
