If a man of mass `M` jumps to the ground from a height `h` and centre of mass moves a distance `x` in time taken by him to hit the ground, show that the average force acting on him is `Mgh//x`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

As the centre of mass moves through a distance `x`, the averge force `F` acting on the man is calculate from :
Work done = Change in potential energy
`Fx = Mgh`
`F = Mgh//x`
