Which measures would you suggest to stop the corrosion of metallic articles or not to allow the corrosion to start?

Corrosion of metallic articles can be prevented by isolating them from a direct contact with air and moisture. This can be done by applying layer of paint, oil, grease or varnish on metal surface so that the contact of metal surface with air and moisture is prevented
