The potential drop across the 3 Omega re...

The potential drop across the `3 Omega` resistor is

A

`1 V`

B

`1.5 V`

C

`2 V`

D

`3 V`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

(a) Equivalent resistance `R = 4 + (3 xx 6 )/(3 + 6) = 6 Omega` and main current `i= (E)/(R ) = (3)/(6) = 0.5 A`
Now potential difference across the combination of
`3 Omega` and `6 Omega, V = 0.5 xx ((3 xx 6)/(3 + 6)) = 1`volt
The same potential difference, also develops across `3 Omega` resistance.
