What is the reading of voltmeter in the following figure ?

A

`3 V`

B

`2 V`

C

`5 V`

D

`4 V`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

(d) Resistance between `A` and `B = (1000 xx 500)/((1500)) = (1000)/(3)`
So,equivalent resistance of the cricuit
`R_(eq) = 500 + (1000)/(3) = (2500)/(3)`
`:.` Current drawn from the cell
`i= (10)/((2500//3)) = (3)/(250) A`
Reading of voltmeter or potential difference across
`AB = (3)/(250) xx (1000)/(3) = 4V`
