For the arrangement of the potentiometer shown in the figure, The balance point is obtained at a distance `75 cm` from `A` when the key `k` is open
The second balance point is obtained at `60 cm` from `A` when the key `k` is closed. Find the internal resistance of the battery `E_(1)`.

A

`1.5 Omega`

B

`2 Omega`

C

`0.5 Omega`

D

`1 Omega`

The correct Answer is:
A

(a) Let `lambda` is resistance per unit length of wire `AB`. When `k` is opened, `I (lambda x 1) = E_(1)`
After is closed : `I lambda x_(2) = E_(1) - ir`
`i= (E_(1))/(R + r)`
`r = ((X_(1))/(X_(2)) - 1) R ((0.75)/(0.60) - 1) = 6 = 1.5 Omega`

For a cell of e.m.f. 2 V , a balance is obtained for 50 cm of the potentiometer wire. If the cell is shunted by a 2Omega resistor and the balance is obtained across 40 cm of the wire, then the internal resistance of the cell is

In comparing the resistance of two cells P and Q with a sides wire bridge, a balance point is obtained when the sliding contact is 30 cm from the zero end of the wire. The resistances P and Q are interchanged and the balance is obtained at 120 cm from the same emf. Find the ratio of the resistance P and Q and the length of the bridge wire

A potentiometer PQ is set up to comapre two resistances as shown in the figure. The ammeter A in the circuit reads 1.0 A when two way key K_(3) is open. The balance point is at a length l_(2) cm from P when two way key K_(3) is plugged in between 2 and 1, while the balance point is at a length l_(2) cm from P when key K_(3) is plugged in between 3 and 1. The ratio of the two resistance (R_(1))/(R_(2)) , is found to be-

The given figure represents an arrangement of potentiometer for the calculation of internal resistance ( r ) of the unknown battery ( E ). The balance length is 70.0 cm with the key opened and 60.0 cm with the key closed. R is 132.40Omega . The internal resistance (r) of the uknown cell will be

In an experiment on the measurement of internal resistance of as cell by using a potentionmeter, when the key K is kept open then balancing length is obtained at y metre. When the key K is closed and some resistance R is inserted in the resistance box, then the balancing length is found to be x metre. Then the internal resistance is

Consider the potentiometer circuit for determining the internal resistance of a cell. When switch S is open, the balance point is found to be at 75 cm os the wire. When switch S is closed and value of R is 4 Omega , the balance points shifts to 60 cm . find the internal resistance of cell. .
