Two electic bulbs marked `25 W -220 V` and `100 W - 220 V` are connected in series to a 440 V supply. Which of the bulbs will fuse?

A

`25 W` bulb

B

`100 W` bulb

C

both bulbs

D

none

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

(a) The resistance of `25 W` bulb will be higher than `100 W` bulb. So when connected in series across `440 V`, potential difference across `25 W` bulb will be more than `220 V`. Hence, this bulb is likely to fuse.
