Can 1.0 M H^(+) solution under H(2) gas ...

Can `1.0 M H^(+)` solution under `H_(2)` gas at `1.0 atm` capable of oxidising `Ag` metal in the presence of `1.0 M Ag^(+)` ions. `E_(OP_(Ag//Ag^(+)))^(@) = -0.80V`.

The reaction are : `{: (2Ag rarr 2Ag^(+)+2e" " E_(OP)^(@) = -0.80V),(2H^(+)+2e rarr H_(2) " "E_(RP)^(@) = 0):}/(2Ag+2H^(+) rarr 2Ag^(+)+H_(2))`
`E_(Cell)^(@) = E_(OP_(Ag//Ag^(+)))^(@) + E_(RP_(H^(+)//H_(2)))^(@)`
`= .-0.80 + 0`
`= -0.80V`
`:. E_(Cell)^(@)` is negative and thus `H^(+)` will not oxidise `Ag` to `Ag^(+)`.
