Does the graviatational force of attraction of the Earth on a body become zero at some height above the earth? Explain.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The gravitational force of attraction of the Earth on a body at height `h` from Earth is
`F = (GMm)/((R + h)^(2))`
where `M` is the mass of Earth, `R` is the radius of Earth and `m` is the mass of body. `f` will not be zero for a finite value of `h` but `F` will be zero if `h` is infinite.
