We can cut an apple easity with a sharp knife as compared to a blunt knife? Explain why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

We know that the area of sharp edged knife is much less than the area of blunt edged knife. Since pressure = `"Force"//"area"`, therefore for the given force pressure will be more for the sharp edge than for the blunt edge knife. That is why it is easy to cut an apple with a sharp knife than with a blunt knife.
