A body is just floating in a liquid whose density is equal to the density of body. What happens to the body if it is slightly pressed and released?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

When a body is just floating in a liquid , then weight of the liquid displaced is equal to the weight of the body. When the body is slightly pressed, then the downward force on body due to its body and pressure of liquid column up to which body is pressed is greater than the upward thrust on the body. As a result of it, the body will sink to the bottom of liquid.
