When bits of comphor are dropped on water, they move helter-skelter. Why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

When bits of camphor are dropped on water, they lower the surface tension where they are dipping. Since the shape of camphor bits is irregular, unequal forces of surface tension act on them. That is why they move helter-skelter or erratically on the surface of water.
