Why does a ray of light bend towards normal as it passes from air to glass ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

As `mu = (sin i)/(sin r) = ( c)/(v)`, and speed of light in glass (v) lt speed of light in air ( c)
`:. sin r lt sin I or r lt i`. Hence a ray of light bends towards normal as it passes from air to glass.
