Assertion : A lens having larg aperture ...

Assertion : A lens having larg aperture will produce image of a point source not as a point but as a diffused bright spot. This error of optical system is called spherical aberration.
Reason : The paraxial rays of light from the image at a longer distance from the lens than marginal rays.

A

If both, Assertion and Reason are true and the Reason is the correct explaination of the Assertion.

B

If both, Assertion and Reason are true but Reason is not a correct explaination of the Assertion.

C

If Assertion is true but the Reason is false.

D

If both, Assertion and Reason are false.

Assertion L A spherical wavefront is produced by a point source of light . Reason : It is because, the locus of al points, which are equidistant from the point source, is a sphere.

Assertion : Spherical aberration occur in lenses of larger aperture. Reason : The two rays, paraxial and marginal rays focus at different points.

Consider the rays shown in figure, as paraxial. The image of the virtual point object O formed by the lens LL is

Assertion : If two rays start from a point along different paths and then meet again at some point then this point is called real image. Reason: Convex mirror can never form a real image.

A point source of light is moving at a rate of 2 cm-s^(-1) towards a thin convex lens of focal length 10 cm along its optical axis. When the source is 15 cm away from the lens the image is moving at -

A thin lens produces an upright image of the same size as the object. Then from the optical centre of the lens, the distance of the object is .

The inner surface of the wall of a sphere is perfectly reflecting. Radius of the sphere is R. A point source S is placed at a distance R//2 from the centre of the sphere. Consider the reflection of light from the farthest wall followed by reflection from the nearest wall. Where is the image of the source? Consider paraxial rays only.
