The deBroglie wavelength of a particle o...

The deBroglie wavelength of a particle of kinetic energy K is `lamda`. What would be the wavelength of the particle, if its kinetic energy were `(K)/(4)`?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

De-Broglie wavelength of a wave associated with a moving material particle of mass m and kinetic energy K is
`lambda=h/(mv)=h/(sqrt(2mK)), i.e., lambda prop1/(sqrtK)`
`(lambda_1)/lambda=sqrt(K/(K//4))=2 or lambda'=2lambda`
