When the P end of P-N junction is connec...

When the `P` end of `P-N` junction is connected to the negative terminal of the battery and the `N` end to the positive terminal then diode behaves as

A

a super conductor

B

an insulator

C

a semiconductor

D

a conductor

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

When the p-end of the p-n junction is connected to the negative terminal and n-end to the +ve terminal of a battery, the p-n junction becomes reverse biased. Its resistance becomes very large. Thus it behaves like a capacitor whose two conducting plates are separated by an insulator.
