A transistor is operated in common emitter configuration at `V_(c)=2 V` such that a change in the base current from `100 muA` to `200 muA` produces a change in the collector current from `5 mA` to `10 mA`. The current gain is

A

75

B

100

C

150

D

50

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
D

`v_"CE"=2 ` and `DeltaI_b` = (200-100) = 100 `mu`A
`DeltaI_c`=(10-5) = 5 mA
We use the formula for `beta` as `beta_"ac"=((DeltaI_C)/(DeltaI_B))` at constant `V_"CE"`
`therefore beta = (5xx10^(-3))/(100xx10^(-6)) = 5xx10^(-3+4)=50`
