How do you explain the functionality of a monomer?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Functionality is the total number of bonding sites or functional groups present in a monomer.
Example: Functionality of ethene `H_2C =CH_2` is 1, whereas 1,3-butadiene is bifunctional, `H_2C =CH-CH =CH_2` , containing two bonding sites.
