In cold regions, the winter rocks cracks due to anomalous expansion of water .

Text Solution

(i) During winter season, in cold countries the temperature for atmosphere falls well below `0^(@)C` .
(ii) If water is present within in the crevices of the rocks , then due to its anomalous behavior , water begins to expand below `4^(@)C`
As there is no place in the cervices for the expansion of water, in exerts termedndous pressure on the rocks which result in the crumbling of the rocks.
(iv) Hence, sometimes rocks crumble into piece in cold countries during winter .
