Apolythene piece rubbled with wool is found to have a negative charge `3xx10^(-7)C`.
Estimate the number of electrons transferred (from which to which?)

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given, charge on Polythene, `q=-3xx10^(-7) C`
`e=-1.6xx10^(-19) C`
No. of electrons transferred, `n=q/e=(-3xx10^(-7))/(-1.6xx10^(-19))`
`:. N=1.875xx10^(12) [ :' q= pm n e]`
Electrons are transferred from wool to polythene.
So wool gets positive charge and polythene gets negative charge.
