The potential at point B and C and the v...

The potential at point B and C and the value of resistance `R` are

A

`10 V, 4V, 4Omega`

B

`6 V, 4V, Omega`

C

`10 V, 4V, 6Omega`

D

`6 V, 4V, 4Omega`

The correct Answer is:
c

Let the potential at point A,B,C, and D be `V_(A) ,V_(B) ,V_(C) and V_(D)` respectively
pot diff. between the point B and A
`= V_(B) - V_(A) = 10 V`
As earth potential is taken zero, so `V_(A) = 0`
`:. V_(B) - 0 = 10V or V_(B) = 10V`
As diff between the point C and D
`= V_(C) - V_(D) = 1 xx 4 = 4V`
`:. V_(C) - 0 = 4 or V_(C) = 4V`
As diff between the point B and C
`= 10 - 4 = 6V`
`:.` Resistance `R = (6)/(1) = 6 Omega`
