Equivalent circuit is which is a balanced Wheatstone bridge. Therefore the resistance `8 Omega` of arm `CD` become ineffective. Then `5 Omega and 3Omega` in series and they together are is parallel with `(5+3) Omega`

Net resistance `= ((5+3) xx(5 +3))/((5+3) + (5xx3)) = 4 Omega`
