Statement-1 : In a Meter Bridge experiment, null point for an unknown resistance is measured. Now, the unknown resistance is put inside an enclosure maintained at a higher temperature. The null point can be obtained at the same point as before by decreasing the value of the standard resistance.
Statement-2 : Resistance of metal increases with increase in temperature.

A

both assertion and reason are true and the reason is Assertion and Reason explanation of the Assertion

B

both assertion and reason are true and the reason is Assertion and the correct explanation of the Assertion

C

Assertion is true , but the reason is false

D

both assertion and reason are false

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
d

Here both Assertion and Reason are wrong. We know that with the increase in temperature , the value of unknown resistance of conductor increase in balanced neter bridge `(R )/(X) = (l_(1))/(l_(2))`
Where `R` is standard known resistance and `X` is unknown resistance On heating as `X` increase so for the same value of `l_(1)l_(2) R` should be increased and not decrease
