Two identical circular coils A and B are placed parallel to each other with their centres on the same axis. The coil B carries current in the clockwise direction as seen from A. What would be the directions of the induced current in A as seen from B when
the coil B is moved towards A, keeping the current in B constant?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Keeping the current steady in coil B, if it is moved towards coil A, the number of magnetic lines of force linked with coil A will increase and current opposite to that in coil B will be induced in coil A. Hence, in this case also, if looked from coil B, the current in coil A will be clockwise.
