In a double-slit experiment, instead of taking slits of equal width, one slit is made twice as wide as the other.then how will the maximum and minimum intensities change?

In case of interfernce of two waves with the same amplitude (a) ,
`a_("max")=a+a=2a , a_("min")=a-a=0`
`:.` Maximum intensity `prop 4a^(2)` , minimum intensity =0 In case of interference of two waves with amplitudes a and A (A gt a),
`a_("max")=a+A, a_("min")=A-ane0`
`:.` Minimum intensity `ne`0 and maximum intensity
`prop (a+A)^(2) gt 4a^(2)`
Hence the maximum and minimum intensities of the interference pattern will increase.
