A

Water and glass , glass and alcohol

B

Silver and water, water and chromium

C

Water and glass , glass and mercury

D

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

Angle of contact `(theta)` for various pairs are as follows
For pure water and glass ` theta = 0^(@)`
For tap water and glass `theta` is about `8^(@)" to " 10^(@)`
For water and silver , `theta = 90^(@)` for alcohol and glass `theta` is acute
For mercury and glass `theta ` is obtuse it is bout `138^(@)`
For water and chromium , `theta = 160^(@)`
Thus we find that both water and glass and alcohol and glass, `theta ` is acute or `theta` is of the same nature .
