The diameter of human eye lens is `2 mm`. What should be the minimum separation between two points situated at `50 m` from eye, to resolve tham. Take wavelength of light `= 5000 Å`.

A

1.25 cm

B

2.35 cm

C

3.5 cm

D

4.8 cm

The correct Answer is:
A

The limit of angular resolution `(theta)` of the eye is given by
`theta=("wavelength of light")/("diameter of the eye lens")=(lamda)/(d)`
and if y is the minimum distance of resolutions between two objects at a diameter D from the eye, then `theta=(y)/(D)`
`therefore (lamda)/(D)=(lamda)/(d)`
`therefore y=(lamdaD)/(d)=(5000xx10^(-10)xx50)/(2xx10^(-3))`
`therefore y=12.5xx10^(-3)m=1.25cm`.
