Calculate the orbital angular momentum o...

Calculate the orbital angular momentum of an electron in a `p` state of hydrogen.
Strategy: Orbital angular momentum in related to azimuthal quantum number. Use Eq. directly to calculate the orbital angular momentum.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`L = sqrt(l(l+1)).(h)/(2pi)`
Taking `l = 1` for `p` state gives
`=sqrt(2) ((6.6 xx 10^(-34)Js))/((2)(3.14)) = 1.5 xx 10^(-34)Js`
