Substances which are expected to posses large magnetism on the basic of the magnetic moments of the domains but actually have small net magnetic moment are called ferrimagnetic substances.
Ferrimagnetism arises due to the unequal number of domains in opposite directions resulting in some net magnetic moment.
On the other hand, antiferromagnetic substances posses zero magnetic moment in an external magnetic field . Antiferromagnetic substances are expected to posses paramagnetism or ferromagnetism on the basic of magnetic moment due to the orientaion of equal number of domains in the opposite directions.
