A pariticle is moving in a circle of radius `12m`. At an instant its speed is `6m//s` and the speed is increasing at the rate `4m//s^(2)`. Find the acceleration of the particle.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Centripital aceleration `a_(c)=(v^(2))/(R )=((6)^(2))/(12)=3m//s^(2)`
Tangential accelration `a_(t)=4m//s^(2)`
Resultant acceleration `a=sqrt(a_(c)^(2)+a_(t)^(2))`
`=sqrt((3)^(2)+(4)^(2))`
`=5m//s^(2)`
