Find the resultant of the following forces.
`[sin 37^(@) = (3)/(5) ,cos 37^(@) = (4)/(5) , sin 53^(@) = (4)/(5) , cos 53^(@) = (3)/(5)]`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(a) Resolve the inclined vectors.
(b) Now , Combine the components in `x` and `y` directions, by taking the proper sign.
`F_(x) = 4 - 6 + 8 = 6`
`F_(y) = 3 + 8 - 3 = 8`
(c )Find the resultant.
`F = sqrt((6)^(2) + (8)^(2)) = 10 N`
`tan theta = (F_(y))/(F_(x)) = (8)/(6) = (4)/(3) rArr theta = 53^(@)`
The resultant of these forces is `10 N at 53^(@)` with the positive `x`-axis.
