A `15 gm` ball is shot from a spring whose spring has a force constant of `600 N//m`. The spring is compressed by `5 cm`. The greater possible horizontal range of the ball for this compression is

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`R_(max) = (u^(2))/(g)` ___(1)
But `K.E` acquired by ball `=P.E` of spring gun
`(1)/(2) mu^(2) = (1)/(2) Kx^(2) rArr u^(2) = (Kx^(2))/(m)` ___(2)
From equations (1) and (2)
`R_(max) = (Kx^(2))/(mg) = (600xx(5xx10^(-2))^(2))/(15xx10^(-3)xx10) = 10m`
