A galvanometer with a coil resistance of `100Omega` shows a full-scale deflection when a current of 1 mA is passed through it. What is value of the resistance which can convert this galvanometer into an ammeter showing a full scale deflection for a current 10 A? A resistance of the required value is available but it will get burnt if the energy dissipated in it is greater then 1 W. Can it be used for the conversion of the galvanometer described above?

we have `S=(i)/(I-i)xxG=(10^(-3))/(10-10^(-3))xx100`
`=(0.1)/(9.999)=0.01Omega`
`P=I^(2)R=(10-10^(-3))^(2)xx(0.1)/((10-10^(-3)))`
`=(10-10^(-2))xx0.1=0.999` watt`lt1` watt.
Hence it can be used for the purpose.
